About Anna

Anna Katharina Schaffner, PhD, is a Certified Professional Co-Active Coach (CPCC) with additional qualifications in clinical hypnotherapy and mind-body health practice, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and mBIT coaching.

She is also an Insights Discovery Profile practitioner and part of the Performance Catalyst core team of coaches and facilitators.

Having suffered a burnout in academia while being Professor of Cultural History, she now helps others make courageous changes in their lives. She is the author of Exhausted: An A-Z for the Weary (Profile, 2024), Exhaustion: A History (Columbia University Press, 2016) and The Art of Self-Improvement: Ten Timeless Truths (Yale University Press, 2021).

In her spare time, Anna Schaffner plays the piano and does kickboxing. She lives with her daughter, partner, and two Siberian cats in a quaint English cathedral town. Her writing, which includes a novel and academic works, has appeared in various national and international media.
